Siegfried Mazet, USA News (France): Back with the French biathlon team since the spring, Siegfried Mazet has praised the expertise of the French coaching staff and expressed enthusiasm heading into the winter season.

Following ten years spent working in Norway, Siegfried Mazet quickly settled back into his rhythm with the French squad. In a column published by Le Dauphiné Libéré, the coach offered a positive initial assessment of his return, stating that he is thoroughly enjoying his work and taking great pleasure in collaborating with Simon Fourcade and the entire staff. Drawing on his Scandinavian experience, the technician particularly appreciates the competencies gathered around the French team.

"France has taken a lead over Norway in certain areas. For example, with its glide unit and highly specialized experts," Mazet noted.

Scientific Approach and Shooting Preparation

Physical preparation, altitude training, equipment, and shooting positions represent multiple expertises combining to support the athletes. The coach from the Drôme department emphasized that the team is progressing toward an increasingly scientific and structured approach.

On the shooting range, the technical work carried out during the initial months of preparation has gradually given way to competitive simulation scenarios in recent weeks. The objective remains to reinforce confidence and automatic reflexes, especially when a podium spot is on the line. Mazet explained the necessity of repeating these situations to build natural reactions on race day.

Upcoming Training Camp in Norway

Siegfried Mazet’s group will now travel to Geilo for a training camp in Norway scheduled to run until November 16. As they do every year, the French athletes will take part in the Norwegian trials to conclude their extensive preparation period.
