Mot de passe France 3 game show hosted by Damien Thévenot, Digi Mart USA News (France): Following his departure from “Télématin,” Damien Thévenot took over the reins of “Mot de passe” on October 26 on France 3. The CGTV editorial team shares its views on the revived program.
The game first aired on France 2 in 2009 and was hosted for seven years by Patrick Sabatier, before passing to Laurence Boccolini and Camille Cerf. Seventeen years after its debut, the show has returned with a new host and a new channel.
Mot de passe now airs Monday through Friday at 5:25 p.m. on France 3.
Each day, two contestants compete alongside two celebrity guests, with each duo trying to guess words to win 2,000 euros.
Editors’ assessments were mixed. Several praised the show’s simple, accessible format, which lets viewers play along from their couches, and said Thévenot appears comfortable, friendly and well suited to the role.
Others were less enthusiastic. Some said the rhythm can feel repetitive and predictable, and one criticized the added new rounds for diluting the word-based ping-pong between players that made the original successful.
Several reviewers said the show is a reliable choice for public broadcasting but does not break new ground in the genre.
Overall, the editors described Mot de passe as an honest, family-friendly entertainment program that offers a pleasant break, though not necessarily one that will prompt viewers to tune in specifically.
