Michael Olise, USA News: Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund played out an engaging 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon. While the Bavarians looked poised to secure victory until a late equalizer from Fabio Silva, the final result was overshadowed by physical setbacks for the German title holders.
Ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture against Atlético de Madrid, Bayern saw three players sustain injuries: Ismaël Saibari, Serge Gnabry, and Michael Olise. Olise requested to be substituted in the closing minutes of the match, adding to an injury list that already included Luis Diaz, Manuel Neuer, and Jamal Musiala. The team has also been managing without manager Vincent Kompany, who remains on rest following hospitalization.
Leaving the stadium limping and declining to speak with reporters, the French winger appeared to suffer a muscular issue. The timing raises serious concerns for the France national team ahead of their upcoming matches against Italy on November 12 and Turkey on November 15, casting doubt on his potential inclusion in the squad list expected to be announced by Zidane on the coming Friday.
While teammate Ismaël Saibari departed on crutches with a bandaged ankle, sporting director Max Eberl offered a cautious assessment regarding the French player. Eberl stated after the match that they believe the situation with Olise may not be extremely severe, though it remains difficult to assess immediately following a high-adrenaline fixture. Olise is scheduled to undergo medical examinations, making his availability doubtful for Tuesday’s match against Atlético, next weekend’s fixture against Mainz, and upcoming international duty.
