Marolles-les-Brault fully online town hall, Digi Mart USA News (Marolles-les-Brault, Sarthe, France): Booking a room at midnight, pre-filling identity document forms in one click and finding staff available at the counter: in Marolles-les-Brault, the move to fully digital services has not come at the expense of human contact. By automating everyday procedures, the Sarthe commune allows its roughly thirty employees to free up time to support older residents and address the digital divide.

The town hall is now 100% digital. In Marolles-les-Brault (Sarthe), administrative procedures have been centralized online since October 2026.

Civil registration, urban planning, municipal and school matters are all available on a custom-built website, including outside the town hall’s opening hours. An interactive map of the commune is also integrated into the site.

A family wanting to book a room, for example, can do so directly.

The decision benefits both residents and the commune’s thirty or so municipal employees, who have been freed from many time-consuming tasks.

“Before, I did not have the time to attend to residents as I would have liked. Now, I am more available for them.”

The town’s website also displays digital storefronts of local merchants. “This shows that Marolles is alive, that the merchants and craftspeople are active,” said Bertrand Matula, a tobacconist at L’Inséprable.

For her part, ahead of renewing her identity card, Anne-Charlotte had already completed everything online in advance.

“When you don’t have much time, frankly, it makes the task easier.”

What remains is supporting older residents and those who are less accustomed to using the internet. A tablet is available at the town hall reception, and staff are now available to help.
