Made in France Doesn’t Necessarily Cost More, Expert Says

Made in France products price comparison: Made in France products: An expert highlights three everyday French-made items, a toothbrush, shampoo and eye pencil, that sell for less than major international brands, while noting that French-made goods remain generally more expensive overall.

Made in France products price comparison, Digi Mart USA News (France): Buying French-made products does not always mean paying more, according to an expert cited by TF1 Info. She presented three everyday examples that challenge common assumptions about the cost of Made in France goods.

The Bioseptyl toothbrush, made in Beauvais in the Oise department, is sold for 1 euro, which the article says is two to four times cheaper than products from Colgate or Sensodyne. The Dop shampoo, produced in Rambouillet, is priced at 6.85 euros per liter, compared with 11 euros per liter for certain L’Oréal references manufactured in Poland.

The Avril eye pencil costs 4 euros, compared with 6 euros for comparable products from Maybelline or L’Oréal. According to the article, these everyday products show that buying French does not systematically mean spending more.

The article also notes that French success stories exist in several sectors. Les Petits Culottés, a baby diaper brand created by two childhood friends, now reports 100 million euros in annual revenue and prices comparable to Pampers or Lotus.

Spontex sponges and fresh products from store brands, which the article says make up 30% of supermarket offerings, also remain affordable.

Textiles remain the sector most difficult to compete in against Chinese production, although Kiabi is attempting the market with a 35-euro pair of trousers. Overall, the article acknowledges that Made in France products remain generally more expensive, but says certain categories show that supporting local industries does not necessarily empty consumers’ wallets.
