Contestant Noah Miguel, 20, presented himself to the judges as a “speed painter” from a family of painters spanning six generations.

Miguel said he could paint a portrait of someone in under a minute and challenged himself to paint all four jury members in record time. After he worked for two minutes, Sugar Sammy questioned whether the canvases had been shown beforehand, and Éric Antoine and Hélène Ségara backed his doubts.

When Miguel displayed his work, Antoine’s portrait was unflattering, drawing laughter from the audience and the jury. Antoine also questioned whether Marianne James’s portrait had been pre-drawn, while Sugar Sammy said he liked his own portrait and joked about it resembling him.

Asked for his secret, Miguel said his self-invented technique made the speed possible without giving details. A production staff member then came on stage to say the canvases were empty, and Marianne James, Hélène Ségara and Sugar Sammy voted yes, while Antoine voted no.

The episode then revealed the twist: the jury had been pranked. A recorded segment showed Sugar Sammy with the young man, a comedian, saying the goal was revenge for the previous season, when Sugar Sammy had staged a fake sound therapist who had convinced Antoine he was cured of back pain.
