Dearness Relief, USA News (Jaipur): The Rajasthan state government has raised Dearness Relief for its state government pensioners and family pensioners from 60% to 63% of their pension, with the adjustment taking effect from 1 July 2026. The official order was issued by the Finance Department’s Rules Division on 30 October in the Governor’s name, replacing the previous rate established by an order on 23 April 2026.

According to the directive, cash payments at the newly revised 63% rate are admissible directly from 1 July 2026. Under this increase, a pensioner receiving a basic monthly pension of ₹20,000 will now receive ₹12,600 in Dearness Relief rather than the previous amount of ₹12,000, representing an increase of ₹600 per month and a total of ₹2,400 for the four-month period covering July through October 2026.

Scope of the Pension Order

The revised order applies directly to individuals receiving superannuation, retiring, invalid, compensation, family, and extraordinary pensions, as well as those drawing provisional pensions. It also includes pensioners who retired from Panchayat Samiti or Zila Parishad service whose Pension Payment Orders were issued by the Director, Local Fund Audit Department or the Director, Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare Department in Rajasthan.

The announcement explicitly notes that individuals drawing Old Age Pension, Political Pension, or any other similar pensions that are not based on government service are excluded from this service pension order. Pensioners aged 80 and above will additionally receive Dearness Relief on the extra quantum of pension permitted at that specific age, with any fractional paisa in the calculated Dearness Relief amount rounded up to the next whole rupee.

Calculation Guidelines and Distribution

For individuals who retired prior to 1 January 2016, Dearness Relief is calculated based on the revised pension or revised family pension effective from 1 January 2016. For those who retired on or after 1 January 2017, or whose family pension was sanctioned initially on or after that date, the relief is calculated using the basic pension or basic family pension.

The order states that other existing rules regarding Dearness Relief—such as regulations during employment, re-employment, or when an individual draws more than one pension—remain entirely unchanged. The notification has been officially dispatched to all Treasury Officers, the Director of Treasuries and Accounts, and the Accountant General of Rajasthan. While the order confirms cash payments from 1 July 2026, it does not specify which exact month’s pension disbursement will include the accumulated arrears for July to October 2026.
