MasterChef Australia, USA News: The Duchess of Sussex confirmed she will serve as a co-host for Junior MasterChef Australia, the children’s cooking competition, in 2027. Television insiders note that the role could serve as a springboard for further television appearances in the United Kingdom.
This announcement follows Meghan’s debut appearance on the adult version of MasterChef Australia in July, which was filmed during a four-day visit to Australia with Prince Harry in April. During that episode, producers handed Meghan the phone to speak with Prince Harry. Australian Network 10 reported that the broadcast drew its largest Sunday audience since 2023.
For the junior series, featuring contestants aged nine to 13, Meghan will join current judge Poh Ling Yeow. The Duchess stated that she had an incredible time with the team in April and called working with young talent an easy choice. The production will film at Melbourne Showgrounds and is expected to require several weeks, though it remains unconfirmed whether Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, will accompany her.
Strategic Career and Lifestyle Moves
Entertainment producers suggested that presenting a children’s cookery format could help soften the public image of the Duchess as she pivots toward lifestyle and cookery programming following her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Industry figures noted that filming in Australia provides a more laidback environment with less intense media scrutiny compared to the UK.
In addition to television commitments, Meghan registered her As Ever lifestyle brand trademark in Australia last year across multiple product categories, including cookware and table linen. Banijay Rights anticipates strong international interest in the series, which will also be accessible to UK audiences through digital and streaming platforms.
