Spurs vs. Kings injury report and preview, Digi Mart USA News: A six-game win streak and a 1-7 opponent mean the main question tonight is who will not walk out of the tunnel. The Spurs (6-2) visit the Sacramento Kings (1-7) at Golden 1 Center at 9:00 p.m.
CT in an NBA Cup group game that carries significance beyond the standings.
The Cup runs on Fridays from October 30 through November 27, with two extra “Cup Nights” on November 24 and 25. The Spurs are in West Group C with the Lakers, Trail Blazers, Warriors and Kings.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for December 4-5, the semifinals for December 8 and/or 9, and the championship for December 11 in Indianapolis.
Every group game matters, so here is who is available. Out for San Antonio: Maliq Brown (G League, Two-Way), Ja’Kobi Gillespie (G League, Two-Way), Tobias Harris (left calf), and Jayden Quaintance (right knee).
Out for Sacramento: Keegan Murray (left ankle capsulitis), Sean Pedulla (G League, Two-Way), Maxime Raynaud (right patella subluxation), and Ben Simmons (right Achilles tendon repair/surgery). Murray and Simmons were also on the last report.
Dylan Cardwell is the only name that came off it. The Kings are thin and were not expected to be a strong team coming into the season.
The Spurs are 4-1 against Sacramento in five meetings since Fox came to San Antonio. The most recent game was comfortable.
San Antonio won 130-103 on October 27 at the Frost Bank Center, scoring 80 in the first half and leading by as many as 28.
Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Julian Champagnie went 8-for-13 from three-point range for 26 points, and the Spurs shot 17-of-37 (45.9%) from deep as a team.
Domantas Sabonis had 20 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists for the Kings, while De’Andre Hunter (24) and Zach LaVine (22) also scored, but the box score never got close.
Sacramento’s only win this season came on November 2 at Dallas, 115-100. It followed with a 116-103 home loss to the Lakers on Wednesday.
The Kings are not especially dynamic offensively, averaging 109.3 points per game while allowing 120-plus in six of their eight contests. Sabonis is the one thing that truly works for them, but overall this is not a very good team.
The Spurs are averaging 116.9 points and allowing 108.6 for a plus-8.3 margin. The team has won six straight since opening the 2026-27 season 0-2.
Wembanyama is averaging 29 points, 12.4 rebounds and 4.5 blocks, following a 52-point, 24-rebound, eight-block game against Dallas a couple of nights ago.
San Antonio is doing several things right, but its three-point shooting has not been falling as it should. The Spurs are shooting 32.2% on about 36 attempts per game, roughly what Sacramento shoots.
Wembanyama’s play, the defense and a weak schedule have covered for that, but the shooting needs to improve.
The Spurs shot well against this team a week and a half ago, and the hope is they do it again and build consistency from it. Spurs fans will want to see a blowout by halftime and Wembanyama on the bench in the fourth quarter.
The team prepares for a back-to-back in Portland on Saturday night. First and foremost, the focus is on seeing some threes drop.
