Agustín Martegani injury Independiente Medellín, Digi Mart USA News: Independiente Medellín has confirmed the injury suffered by Argentine midfielder Agustín Martegani, who did not travel to Bogotá for Friday’s match against Fortaleza, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Techo stadium.
The midfielder had to leave the match against Alianza after 34 minutes, after feeling pain in his right leg. According to the medical report released by the club, Martegani suffered an overload of the triceps surae and has begun physiotherapy, with his absence depending on his clinical progress.
Some specialists note that recovery time for this type of injury can be five to seven days, although this depends on the athlete’s progress and response to physiotherapy. Medical staff will conduct a new evaluation to determine whether he can return for the closing match against Águilas Doradas, scheduled for the weekend of November 13 to 15.
Martegani was among the club’s best-rated players in October, scoring three goals, two of them in the derby against Atlético Nacional in the Copa BetPlay quarterfinals. This season he has played 15 league matches, 13 as a starter, with one goal, three assists and 1,142 minutes played.
Medellín, coached by Luis Amaranto Perea, sits seventh in the standings with 26 points and needs four of the six points still at stake against Fortaleza and Águilas Doradas to qualify without depending on other results. The club is currently among the top eight and controls its own position, alongside Bucaramanga, Santa Fe, Millonarios and Águilas Doradas.
