IEEM partnership with COPARMEX to promote candidate information system for 2026-2027 Mexico State elections, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico State, Mexico): The Mexico State Electoral Institute (IEEM) has invited members of the Confederation of Employers of the Mexican Republic (COPARMEX) Mexico State chapter to join as strategic allied institutions in promoting and disseminating the “Candidatas y Candidatos, Conóceles” system. The goal is to bring the tool to more people to encourage informed voting and strengthen civic participation in the electoral process for the 2026-2027 election of state deputies and municipal councils.
The system is a public and impartial online resource that will allow citizens to learn the profiles of the more than 3,600 candidates who will take part in the election, including their backgrounds and proposals. It will be available starting April 29, 2027, the date campaigns begin, and aims to give every candidate an equal space so voters can compare options before casting their ballots.
During the meeting, attended by Electoral Councilors July Erika Armenta Paulino, Sayonara Flores Palacios and Flor Angeli Vieyra Vázquez, as well as COPARMEX Mexico State President Julián Niembro Rivera and other members of the organization, participants discussed the value of using the business sector’s communication channels, workplaces and contact networks to widen the tool’s reach. The aim is to launch joint efforts that bring the information to workplaces, shopping centers and other common gathering places.
Councilor Flores Palacios stressed the importance of alliances with different sectors of society. She noted that the election will involve roughly 22,000 polling stations and approximately 13.4 million people registered on the Nominal List of voters, making it essential to create mechanisms that ease access to information.
She explained that while political parties and independent candidates will present their proposals during the campaigns, the IEEM is responsible for providing an impartial space on equal terms so citizens can learn the profiles of the candidates.
Councilor Armenta Paulino underlined the need to bring electoral affairs closer to citizens and to find new forms of communication that involve more people. She said business leaders can act as spokespeople for the initiative by sharing the platform with their employees and using their organizations’ communication channels.
Councilor Vieyra Vázquez said the system is the result of experience gained in previous electoral processes and of the need to strengthen access to public information. She said strategic alliances will help reach more areas of the state and include different segments of the population, including people who need priority attention.
She also called on citizens to play an active and watchful role throughout the electoral process, noting that political-electoral rights and maximum transparency must be protected.
The councilors reaffirmed the IEEM’s willingness to work in coordination with COPARMEX Mexico State and to develop outreach strategies that increase use of the system and strengthen ties between electoral institutions and society in the state.
