A13 motorway closure Paris to Normandy 2026-2027, Digi Mart USA News (Saint-Cloud tunnel, Hauts-de-Seine, France): From November 16, 2026 until August 31, 2027, the A13 motorway linking the Paris region to Normandy will close in the Paris-to-province direction so that major work can be carried out at the Saint-Cloud tunnel in the Hauts-de-Seine.

The motorway is used every day by about 80,000 drivers and is already congested during peak hours throughout the week. A closure lasting eight months is expected to produce severe traffic during the works, and Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot is already preparing for the impact.

“That cannot go well,” the minister admitted, as reported by journalists from Le Figaro. Tabarot, the government and the prefecture have already tried to anticipate the works, including by making the A14 motorway toll-free to draw part of the regional traffic away.

The A14 toll-free arrangement will apply from Monday to Friday, from 00:01 to 23:59, and the A14 routes will become tolled again on weekends. The Sanef, a private company that operates the A14, will be compensated by the State in exchange for the free passage, though the amount has not yet been disclosed.

The A86 will not be made toll-free for now. State services report that planned roadworks on the region’s main routes will be postponed or carried out as much as possible at night.

The minister hopes that daily A13 drivers will switch to public transport. “We hope users will take the train.

The western Paris rail network can carry about 50% of the drivers who use the A13,” Tabarot said. Reinforced bus lines 7815 and 5117 are also planned.

Although the State does not plan to add more trains, the minister promised that everything will be done to ensure the rail network runs smoothly. Le Figaro also recalled that only 7% of daily A13 drivers switched to the train in 2024, when serious cracks forced the closure of its lanes.
