Henri Salvador est un Voyou France 4 bossa nova tribute, Digi Mart USA News: On Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at 11:10 p.m., France 4 and france.tv will broadcast “Henri Salvador est un Voyou,” an exclusive creation in which the singer Voyou pays tribute to the author of “Syracuse.” The concert was recorded at Studio 104 of the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique as part of Radio France’s Hyper Weekend Festival.

Thibaud Vanhooland, known as Voyou, offers a gentle reinterpretation of the repertoire of a monument of French song. Following a second album released in 2023 and more than one hundred concerts, the artist takes on the songs of the man who claimed to be the inventor of bossa nova.

The Brazilian music and sensual groove of bossa nova run through the creation, which was recorded on January 26, 2026, during the Hyper Weekend Festival.

The connection between the two artists is clear: a shared taste for sunny melodies, a similar relaxed melancholy, and close attention to small things. “I realized that I too sing a lot about flowers, love, and birds,” Voyou said, making the handover feel natural.

Henri Salvador, born in Cayenne in 1917 and died in 2008, spanned the century as a songwriter, composer, performer and comedian. Revealed within Ray Ventura’s orchestra, he influenced several generations with songs that became classics.

His song “Dans mon île” (1957) is considered a direct influence on the pioneers of Brazilian bossa nova, notably Antônio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto.

Other well-known works include “Syracuse,” written with lyricist Bernard Dimey; “Le lion est mort ce soir,” a timeless popular hit; and “Jardin d’hiver,” which accompanied his major comeback around the turn of the 2000s. According to a frequently told anecdote, Brazilian bossa nova pioneers began slowing samba and singing it with restraint after listening to “Dans mon île” in the late 1950s.

Voyou, from Lille, was revealed with the 2019 album “Les Bruits de la ville” and has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in new French song, blending pop, jazz and Brazilian music. His single “Le bal,” a duet with Vanessa Paradis, extended this path; the two performed it together on the stage of the Olympia in Paris.

Radio France entrusted him with a creative free rein centered on Henri Salvador.

The Hyper Weekend Festival, launched in 2022, presents each year over three days and three nights creations heard nowhere else, premieres and encounters between aesthetics. Since its launch it has welcomed nearly 50,000 festivalgoers and reached millions of listeners through rebroadcasts of concerts on public-service channels.

“Henri Salvador est un Voyou” is one of its finest results.
