Comisión Nacional de Búsqueda Guanajuato missing persons search, Digi Mart USA News (Guanajuato, Mexico): Personnel from Mexico’s National Search Commission (Comisión Nacional de Búsquedas, CNB) traveled to the state of Guanajuato as part of ongoing efforts to locate missing persons. The CNB said the visit formed part of permanent actions aimed at finding disappeared people.
During the operation, teams carried out individualized search work in the forensic field, along with aerial reconnaissance using a drone and on-foot searches. The actions were coordinated with the National Guard, the State Search Commission for Persons of Guanajuato, Civil Protection and the State Police.
Rocío Gómez González, leader of the Unidos por los Desaparecidos collective in León, acknowledged the CNB’s work in deciding to come to Guanajuato to assist and collaborate. She also continued to demand greater security for the searchers, saying mothers who look for their relatives face considerable risk by exposing themselves in this way, though she said the cause is worthwhile.
Gómez asked that the collective be helped with the circulation of all search notices so that any missing person can be publicized and their whereabouts learned. She said the CNB is working on this and asked that such efforts be reinforced.
Gómez said she hopes the visit by the National Search Commission will help locate more people, and she thanked the agency for its support and its willingness to come to the state and continue the work.
The visit took place during the tour for the Second Government Report of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. Sheinbaum traveled to Guanajuato and spoke with the searching mothers, who asked the federal government for support in finding as many of the disappeared as possible.
