Mexico’s Federal Audit Office Finds Corporate Ties Between INE Suppliers and Electoral Body Personnel

ASF links between INE suppliers and electoral body personnel: Mexico's Superior Audit Office reported corporate ties among suppliers ZEG, Graf, Formas Finas and Seriplast, and individuals with past or present links to the National Electoral Institute, raising questions about conflicts of interest in public procurement.

ASF links between INE suppliers and electoral body personnel, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Mexico’s Superior Audit Office (ASF) said it has detected a series of corporate ties among the companies ZEG, Graf, Formas Finas and Seriplast, which are suppliers linked to the electoral sector, as well as individuals who have or had work and corporate connections with the National Electoral Institute (INE).

In a statement, the oversight body said five people appear linked to both ZEG and Graf, which it said shows relationships between the two companies. Among the cases drawing attention is that of Jonathan Navarrete Torres, who worked as a driver for Guadalupe Taddei at the INE and currently appears as an attorney-in-fact for ZEG.

The statement also highlights Alejandro Olaya Ortiz, identified as a partner in the same company and a delegate of the assemblies of Formas Finas. The ASF said these business relationships and identified employment histories represent indications that warrant a deeper review of public procurement procedures.

The audit body said the goal of its investigations is to determine whether possible conflicts of interest, improper practices or conduct that could generate legal liability existed for the individuals or companies involved. The findings place the relationships between suppliers and people linked to the electoral body under scrutiny, particularly regarding transparency, legality and impartiality in the use of public resources.
