Sheinbaum proposal to strengthen Talleres Gráficos de México, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the presentation of a decree to reform and strengthen Talleres Gráficos de México, with the aim of converting it into a state-owned public company with a board of directors and greater capacity to manufacture most of the electoral materials and stationery ahead of 2027.
The proposal would modify the administrative structure to create a board of directors for the institution. It also anticipates the participation of more state secretariats, federal agencies, and academic institutions or universities.
On oversight and transparency, the proposal would ask the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) to act as an observing body. It would also review the contracts for producing electoral materials held by the National Electoral Institute (INE) and local electoral bodies (OPLE).
The initiative seeks to reduce intermediaries by allowing the state to produce electoral materials and ballots directly, without resorting to triangulation or private suppliers.
