Toulouse players France rugby squad injuries Fiji match, Digi Mart USA News: Stade Toulousain has for several years been the main supplier of players to the France national rugby team. However, only four players from the Haute-Garonne club will start Saturday evening’s match against Fiji at 9:10 p.m.
François Cros, Antoine Dupont, Romain Ntamack and Kalvin Gourgues will be the four Stade Toulousain starters. The figure contrasts with the usual selections of coach Fabien Galthié, whose team sheets regularly rely on a large Toulouse core.
According to the article, this is the first France match with only four Toulouse starters, excluding summer tours, since February 10, 2024. That day, France faced Scotland at Murrayfield in the second round of the Six Nations, when the four Toulouse starters were Cyril Baille, Peato Mauvaka, François Cros and Thomas Ramos.
The current situation is different in cause. Injuries are keeping Julien Marchand, Thibaud Flament, Joshua Brennan, Emmanuel Meafou, Anthony Jelonch, Pierre-Louis Barassi and Thomas Ramos out, at least for the start of this phase of the Nations Championship.
In total, seven Stade Toulousain players are unavailable.
After Fiji, France will face South Africa and then Argentina. A final classification match is scheduled for the last weekend of November.
With many players absent, the coaching staff must adjust its organization and give other internationals greater responsibility.
