Cold front 4 weather alert Mexico, Digi Mart USA News: A trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere over the west and south of the country, combined with moisture entering from the Pacific Ocean, is expected to bring possible heavy localized rain with electrical discharges in parts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, as well as intermittent showers in Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, the State of Mexico and Morelos.

Meanwhile, weather front No. 4 will remain nearly stationary over northeastern Mexico, interacting with a low-pressure channel extending over the east and southeast of the country. Conagua forecasts minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius overnight into Friday in the mountain zones of Chihuahua and Durango. Minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees Celsius are forecast for mountain zones of Baja California, Sonora, Zacatecas, the State of Mexico, Tlaxcala and Puebla.

On Friday, weather front No. 4 will be reinforced by a mass of cold air and move across the northeast and east of Mexico. This is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rain to Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí, along with falling afternoon temperatures in the north and northeast and north-component winds gusting between 30 and 50 km/h in Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

A separate trough in the upper atmosphere over the east and south of the country, along with moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, will bring showers and heavy rain to the east, center, south and southeast of Mexico, including the Valle de México and the Yucatán Peninsula. Very heavy localized rain is forecast in Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz.

On Saturday and Sunday, weather front No. 4 is expected to remain extended and nearly stationary over eastern Mexico, interacting with mid- and upper-level atmospheric troughs in the northeast and southeast. This will generate showers and heavy rain in those regions, including the Yucatán Peninsula and the Mesa Central, with very heavy to locally intense rain forecast in parts of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.

The cold air mass driving the front will keep temperatures falling across the north, northeast, east and center of the country. North-component winds gusting between 50 and 70 km/h are forecast along the coasts of Tamaulipas and Veracruz, as well as the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca and Chiapas.
