French content creator economy 2026 market growth, Digi Mart USA News (France): A content creator is a person who regularly produces and distributes videos, texts, podcasts or images on digital platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Substack, with or without income. The term is often misused, which is why the definition matters.

According to a new study published by the firm Coherent Market Insights (CMI) on Wednesday, November 4, during the Paris Creator Week, this economy will reach 9 billion euros in France in 2026, a rise of 23.7% over one year.

Behind this lucrative-looking business, however, lie deep inequalities. A minority of creators earn substantial revenues and employ large teams of collaborators, while many anonymous creators earn nothing and are rarely known to the public.

As France Info, which shared the report, explains, the activity remains poorly paid for most creators. Among the roughly 330,000 people who monetize their content in France, 56.1% earn less than 5,000 dollars a year (about 4,420 euros), and 9.5% earn more than 30,000 dollars (about 26,580 euros), according to the study.

The analysts say advertiser spending linked to produced content, subscriptions, merchandise sales and donations, captured by creators, accounts for about 45.4% of the total. Platforms take 31.3% of the value generated, and software publishers, agencies and other service providers receive the remainder.

The study also counts 465,000 active creators in France with more than 1,000 followers, and a total of 5,900 creator businesses generating more than 100,000 dollars (about 88,680 euros) in annual revenue. This places France third in Europe in the sector, behind Germany and the United Kingdom, and seventh worldwide.

According to a 2025 Goldman Sachs report cited in the article, the world has about 67 million creators, a figure expected to reach 107 million by 2030. Earnings remain highly concentrated: 3% of YouTubers capture 90% of platform revenue.

After a dip in 2023, investment is rising again, reaching 1.5 billion dollars in 2024, driven by artificial intelligence.

The global market is estimated at between 250 and 314 billion dollars in 2026, depending on what is included, such as influencer marketing, tools, platform payments and subscriptions.
