Real Madrid Y-3 Dragon jersey re-release, Digi Mart USA News: Real Madrid and Adidas have launched a re-release of one of their former jerseys that enjoyed great success. Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Marcelo and Xabi Alonso all wore it.
Twelve years later, Real Madrid is bringing back one of its most memorable jerseys. The “Y-3 Dragon” shirt, designed by Yohji Yamamoto, is back on sale.
Worn during the 2014-2015 season, the club’s third jersey surprised fans with its design by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. Adidas decided to reissue it, with a collection that includes short-sleeved and long-sleeved versions, as well as a matching jacket and tracksuit bottoms.
“More than a simple football shirt, the original design marked a revolutionary turning point in the evolution of football culture,” the German brand wrote.
It was the first collaboration between Real Madrid and Y-3. “By blurring the boundaries between sport, fashion and design, the shirt instantly became a cultural icon,” Adidas said, presenting it today as one of the most sought-after jerseys in the club’s history.
For this re-release, several club legends returned in front of the cameras: Toni Kroos, Roberto Carlos, Guti, Kaká and Pepe. From the new generation, Jude Bellingham and Athenea del Castillo also appear in the campaign.
The black and white shirt, featuring its famous dragon on the front, is available on the official club shop website from this Thursday.
