November 5 Dordogne protests and strikes, Digi Mart USA News (Dordogne, France): Thursday, November 5 is a day of intersectoral and interprofessional strikes across France. In Dordogne, several demonstrations are organized, and high school students want to join the mobilization.

Several demonstrations are planned Thursday, November 5 in Dordogne, responding to a national call from the intersyndicale seeking concrete answers on purchasing power. Other demands are also present, including those of high school students who want to take part in the national movement.

High school students had called for blockades in recent days. However, they were “not numerous enough” in Bergerac, according to one of the movement’s organizers, “because of strikes in public transport.” About ten of them tried to block the entrance to the Maine de Biran high school, but police removed part of the barrier.

The students returned to class.

Students at Joséphine Baker in Sarlat also planned to block their school on Thursday. Those in Périgueux want to gather in front of the Bertran de Born secondary school before marching past all the high schools in the city.

Three demonstrations are announced in Dordogne, called by the CGT, FSU, FO, Unsa, CFDT, as well as the agricultural union Confédération paysanne. They plan to gather in front of the Périgueux courthouse at 10:30 a.m., in front of the Bergerac courthouse at 3 p.m., and at Place de la Grande Rigaudie in Sarlat at 3 p.m.

The unions and students are calling for a large day of mobilization this Thursday, November 5. Several demonstrations have been announced in Dordogne.

What to expect in schools or on public transport remains a question for the day.

The high school movement does not intend to lose steam this week in Dordogne, as students in Sarlat plan a blockade on Monday, while students in Périgueux, Bergerac and, for the first time, the Excideuil high school plan action on Tuesday.
