Météo-France orange rain-flood alert Hérault Gard Corsica, Digi Mart USA News (France): Two more departments in southern France are facing a risk of “rain-flooding.” Starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, the Hérault and Gard join Corsica-du-Sud and Haute-Corse under orange vigilance, Météo-France announced in its bulletin published at 6 a.m.
The forecaster described a “disturbed situation in the Mediterranean, particularly on the eastern coast of Corsica,” starting at 6 a.m. Météo-France said rain could be “lasting” and bring “heavy accumulations,” with coastal mainland departments, mainly Gard and Hérault, affected, and possibly Bouches-du-Rhône and, to a lesser extent, Var.
Météo-France said the rain falls on very wet soils, which will make runoff easier. It added that overnight totals were around 50 to 70 millimeters along an axis from Montpellier/Le Vigan and from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer to Alès.
According to the agency’s social media alert, Thursday, November 5, has four departments under orange rain-flood vigilance, and on Friday, November 6, Haute-Corse and Corsica-du-Sud remain under orange vigilance.
