France national team Euro 2028 draw seeding, Digi Mart USA News: The France national team, led by head coach Zinédine Zidane, returns in one week to play its last two group-stage matches of the UEFA Nations League, against Italy in Milan and Turkey in Bordeaux on November 12 and 15.
Those results will also determine the quarterfinal lineup of the Nations League and the seeding pots for the Euro 2028 qualifying draw. That draw, for the tournament hosted by England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, will take place on December 6 in Belfast.
France is expected to be one of the 12 seeded teams in the Euro qualifying draw. That would allow Les Bleus, led by Kylian Mbappé, to avoid top European sides such as Spain, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy and, likely, Norway, currently the 12th-best team in the Nations League.
Pot 2 could still produce a difficult opponent, with possible names including Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, Wales and Turkey, the third Nations League opponent of the French. The risk, however, is that the seeded teams could also draw strong opposition from Pot 3, which includes seven Euro 2024 participants: Ukraine, Scotland, Poland, Georgia, whose Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will not return to training for six months, Romania, Slovakia and Albania.
To reach the Euro 2028 finals, which will run from June 9 to July 9, teams must finish in the top two of their qualifying group. The nine stadiums for the tournament have already been selected: Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Etihad Stadium, Hill Dickinson Stadium, St James’ Park, Villa Park, Hampden Park, Principality Stadium and Aviva Stadium.
