Toluca municipal enforcement against illegal garbage dumping and burning, Digi Mart USA News (Toluca, Mexico): A total of 215 people were presented before the Civic Court in Toluca for dumping or burning garbage in public spaces, as a result of surveillance patrols and attention to citizen reports carried out from January to October 2026.
On instructions from Mayor Ricardo Moreno, the General Directorate of Security and Protection maintains actions to enforce municipal regulations and prevent conduct that affects cleanliness, the environment and public safety.
Among the most recent interventions were cases registered in San Pablo Autopan, the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood, Barrio del Cóporo and San Luis Obispo. In one case, police detected a person abandoning two bags of waste on a public road, while in others, neighborhood reports were addressed or people were caught throwing garbage during patrols.
Residents are reminded that depositing waste in streets, storm drains, sewers, parks, ravines, vacant lots and other unauthorized spaces constitutes a violation of the Municipal Bando. Depending on the severity and classification of the offense, sanctions may include fines of up to 50 Units of Measure and Update, equivalent to 5,866 pesos, and administrative arrest of up to 36 hours, as determined by the Civic Court.
The municipal government urges the public to avoid dumping trash and to help care for public spaces by placing waste in designated collection sites and reporting points where clandestine dumps form. Such dumping not only deteriorates the urban image but can obstruct drains and sewers, favor flooding and create sources of infection.
Burning garbage releases pollutants that affect air quality and health.
