Mexico mobile line identity registration, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): Mexico has surpassed 100 million mobile phone lines linked to the identity of an individual, representing 83.3% progress toward the estimated universe of 120 million numbers that must complete the process by the end of 2026.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) reported that, as of November 2, 100,518,000 lines had been linked. The measure aims to reduce anonymity in mobile services and facilitate investigations into crimes such as fraud and extortion.
Registration still covers millions of numbers that remain pending, so users must complete the procedure according to the established schedule. Linking can be done now, regardless of the date assigned to the termination of each number.
The process is carried out directly with telephone companies, through their digital platforms or at customer service centers. It is not a procedure carried out directly by the federal government, and each operator is responsible for requesting and safeguarding its users’ information.
Completing registration requires a valid official identification along with the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP). The CRT specified that the procedure can be completed without a prepaid balance and without consuming mobile data when the access enabled by the telephone company is used.
The linking schedule depends on the last digit of the telephone number. Users do not need to wait for the date corresponding to their number and can complete the procedure early to avoid possible service interruptions.
Service suspension does not mean the phone number is permanently lost or canceled. The line can be reactivated at any time after completing the linking with the corresponding company, which requires presenting valid official identification with CURP and concluding the registration.
No balance is needed to complete the procedure.
