Antoine Dupont France rugby Fiji test return to form, Digi Mart USA News: Antoine Dupont’s level during the most recent Six Nations Championship sometimes fueled debate. While the scrum-half remained capable of decisive moments, some observers noted that he appeared less dominant than usual.
Patrick Arlettaz attributes that situation mainly to the context of Dupont’s return to competition. He recalls that the France captain was coming back from a significant injury and had to resume the season with reduced preparation time.
According to Arlettaz, the expectations surrounding Dupont often lead people to forget that such a return takes time before a player fully regains his physical reference points. In the view of the French coaching staff, the main challenge Dupont faced had nothing to do with his rugby.
Even when diminished athletically, Dupont still possessed exceptional technical quality that allowed him to remain effective at the highest level. That ability to compensate, however, may have masked a different reality.
As the test against Fiji approaches, the staff’s message has changed. This time, the signals are positive, according to Arlettaz.
“When we talk about Antoine Dupont, it’s always very difficult to say he is a little off! I believe he is already much better physically.
I find him refreshed, fully capable of his physical powers. You can clearly see he is in full command of his abilities, that he is 100% physically.
Technically, he is above any other player, and he was able to compensate for the physical side during the Tournament. Now he has both at once.
So there is nothing to complain about,” Patrick Arlettaz says.
