Delfina Gómez pothole repair program Estado de México, Digi Mart USA News (Estado de México, Mexico): Mexico State Governor Delfina Gómez launched a pothole repair program with an investment of 300 million pesos to repair 275,000 square meters of streets and roads across the state during November and December of this year.
The program, called Rescate de Vialidades, will be carried out through the five residencies of the State of Mexico Roads Board and aims to benefit more than 4.5 million residents. Of the total budget, 60 million pesos will be allocated to work in the Toluca Valley, where more than 1.7 million people are expected to be reached.
The launch took place on Leona Vicario Street in Toluca, where the governor said that rehabilitating the roads responds to one of the main demands from citizens and is part of the commitments she made during her Third Government Report.
The surface area to be repaired is approximately equivalent to 39 professional soccer fields and will be distributed among various points of the state road network that show damage.
Delfina Gómez called on municipal governments to allocate resources to the maintenance of streets, avenues and highways, with the aim of expanding the coverage of interventions and addressing the deterioration of infrastructure.
At the start of the program, the governor reported that, despite the rains recorded this year, her administration has rehabilitated and resurfaced more than 400 kilometers of highways and roads.
The interventions she mentioned included 108 kilometers of the Periférico Norte, 4.72 kilometers of the Periférico Oriente, 22.5 kilometers of Avenida Central and 40 kilometers of the Vía Morelos, as well as work on the Vialidad Mexiquense.
In the Toluca Valley, she indicated that work was carried out on 2.8 kilometers of Avenida Alfredo del Mazo, 39.7 kilometers of the La Marquesa-Tenango highway and the Bulevar Aeropuerto.
She also announced upcoming interventions on Avenidas Salvador Díaz Mirón and Tecnológico, the Camino Puente Grande-Las Ánimas, and the Metepec-Zacango highway. For the Toluca-Palmillas highway, she said the possibility of resurfacing work is under analysis.
She further proposed rehabilitating the stretch of Leona Vicario Street where the program was launched.
The governor attributed part of the work to support from the federal government and recalled that President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo committed to advancing the improvement of State of Mexico streets during her visit to the state on September 18.
“These results are possible when the people’s resources are put at the service of the people and when the governments of Mexico, the State of Mexico and the municipalities work as a team, great progress can be achieved,” she said.
Finally, she asked motorists to take precautions in light of the temporary road closures and cuts that will occur during the execution of the works.
The program is part of the state strategy “2026, Year of Works in EdoMéx,” through which the State of Mexico government seeks to address the condition of public infrastructure.
