Alejandro Moreno accuses Andy López Beltrán of corruption, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): National PRI leader Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas has demanded an independent investigation into the businesses, ties and origin of the fortune of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, arguing that the Tabasco native should be in prison.
Through his social media accounts, the PRI senator questioned a video in which López Beltrán reportedly attempted to distance himself from his relationship with businessman Amílcar Olán, who has been named in various accusations related to alleged irregular business dealings.
Moreno argued that if the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) were autonomous and not subject to the federal government, López Beltrán would face criminal consequences for the allegations against him.
The PRI leader also accused him of alleged influence peddling, illicit enrichment and links to illegal activities, while questioning his relationship with Olán and the businesses in which his brother Gonzalo López Beltrán, known as Bobby, has also been mentioned.
Among the allegations, Moreno referred to the alleged sale of poor-quality ballast for the Interoceanic Train, an issue he linked to the derailment on that infrastructure, which left 14 people dead.
The PRI leader accused the Morena government of providing political protection to the sons of former president López Obrador, and argued that the leaks, testimonies and videos disseminated so far warrant public explanations.
López Beltrán should clarify the origin of his assets and business relationships, rather than limiting himself to distancing himself from the people with whom he has been linked, Moreno insisted.
These statements are part of Moreno’s political accusations against the former president’s family. The PRI statement does not present any judicial rulings that substantiate the accusations.
