Mexico’s economic dependence on the United States and U.S. political parties, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico City): Luis Miguel González, editorial director of El Economista, told Meganoticias in an interview with Yoelí Ramírez that Mexico depends on the United States for its economy and for the supply of products such as oil and gas. “On this shared border we have many unresolved issues, we are super vulnerable,” he said.
González said many people in the United States are uneasy about how the economy is functioning, and that families feel their economic situation has declined over the last two years of Donald Trump’s term.
He added that although the Republican Party has promoted a narrative against Mexicans, the Democratic Party will not necessarily change its narrative; only the forms will change. “There will be a moderation in tone but few fundamental changes.”
“When we look at Obama’s deportation rates, they are surprisingly high. Something changed with the presence of Trump; the political map changed.
Not all Democrats are red and not all Republicans are blue,” he explained.
Alejandro Maciel, a journalist with Radio Bilingüe in Los Angeles, said Democrats and Republicans are very similar, and that the difference lies in tone, since Donald Trump has been very violent.
Jorge Badillo, a journalist based in the United States, commented that one of the few positive actions that can be credited to the U.S. president is his statement that he will not allow Mexican drug cartels.
