Methamphetamine seizure of 133 kilograms hidden in tractor-trailer in Sinaloa, Mexico, Digi Mart USA News (Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico): Federal authorities seized approximately 133 kilograms of methamphetamine packed into 89 packages and concealed in a false floor of a semi-trailer. The discovery was made during an inspection on Mexico Highway 15, on the Mazatlán-Culiacán stretch in Sinaloa.
According to operation reports, the driver of a tractor-trailer pulling a trailer performed evasive maneuvers when he noticed federal agents. Agents then signaled him to stop for an inspection at kilometer 33+450.
During the inspection, officers found a modification in the floor of the semi-trailer. Opening that structure revealed a hidden compartment holding the packages of the illicit substance, which weighed approximately 133 kilograms.
The packages were arranged in 89 bundles hidden beneath the floor of the cargo box, using a double-bottom mechanism that made them difficult to detect during an ordinary vehicle check.
Two men, aged 36 and 38, who were traveling in the cargo unit were detained. Both were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry, together with the tractor-trailer and the drugs, so that an investigation file could be compiled and their legal status determined.
Personnel from the Federal Protection Service, part of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) took part in the operation.
The seizure was announced by SSPC head Omar García Harfuch, who said such interventions are part of the ongoing reinforcement of security in Sinaloa. Through his social media accounts, the official stated that preventing the transport of these substances helps keep them off the streets and protects public health, particularly that of young people.
Federal authorities said surveillance on highways and strategic points in the state will continue in order to detect drug trafficking and combat illicit substance trafficking activities.
