Colegio Americano del Noreste attack lawsuit additional suspects Monterrey, Digi Mart USA News (Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico): Nearly ten years after an armed attack at the Colegio Americano del Noreste in Monterrey, lawyers hired by the family of teacher Cecilia Solís say evidence shows six other people were involved. The family’s legal team has asked the Nuevo León State Attorney General’s Office to expand the original complaint.
Solís was killed on January 18, 2017, when the attacker, identified in the report as Federico ‘N’, carried a pistol into his classroom and fired at his teacher and classmates before taking his own life. Several students were seriously injured.
Attorney Candelario Maldonado said the legal advisers determined that six people were involved in the homicide and adhered to the criminal conduct on the day of the attack. He said the other alleged participants include five classmates of Federico ‘N’ and one additional young man who knew about the plan, which was carried out at the school located in the south of Monterrey.
Maldonado described the event as a planned conspiracy. He said the Attorney General’s Office had not agreed to expand the complaint for years, but last week a control judge ordered the office to resolve the request.
According to Maldonado, the case has always remained open, and the family is seeking an expanded complaint so that other alleged participants can be brought before justice. He said the team reviewed the case point by point and hired specialists in nonverbal communication because the videos have no sound.
Maldonado added that prosecutors were aware of possible accomplices but did not act on them. The conspiracy theory has gained attention through the documentary “El abogado de Dios,” which is scheduled to premiere on YouTube on November 5.
