Mexico Anti-Money Laundering Evaluation, Digi Mart USA News (Paris): The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the international body that sets global standards against money laundering and terrorist financing, adopted Mexico’s evaluation report on October 30 at its plenary meeting in Paris. The document, which contains the country’s ratings, will be published on December 17, 2026, according to Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).
This is the first full evaluation of Mexico since 2018 and the first under the so-called Fifth Round, which the FATF applies to its members. At the same plenary, the report on the United States was also adopted.
Unlike other Latin American countries, which are evaluated by their regional body, GAFILAT, Mexico is examined directly by the FATF. The review covers the state as a whole, including its laws, the capacity of its authorities, the results of investigations and asset seizures, and the performance of financial and non-financial institutions required to prevent money laundering, according to the official statement.
