Ma toute petite école documentary release in France, Digi Mart USA News (Savoie, France): The documentary Ma toute petite école, shot in Savoie, opens in French cinemas this Wednesday, November 4. The film follows eight pupils, from petite section to CM2, who share a single classroom in La Gurraz, a village in the upper Tarentaise valley.

La Gurraz is a village of 35 residents perched at 1,600 meters above sea level and home to one of the smallest schools in France. Director Pascal Plisson spent more than a year on site filming the four seasons of a school threatened with closure because of declining population and a housing crisis in a heavily touristic valley.

After the shoot ended in June 2025, Plisson said he was making the film to defend small rural schools that are closing. He described the project as a way to draw attention to these schools.

The film was first shown in an open-air screening in La Gurraz in July 2026 and then toured France in preview screenings. It also received a prize at Mon Premier Festival in Paris on October 27.
