The episode also marks the return of Lionnel Astier to the France 3 series three years after his departure.
In the story, Angelo, a former head of the rural police who is now retired, sees his partner disappear mysteriously. Unable to find any leads, he asks Alex for help.
Although Alex has no legal authority in the region, the rural police team reunites to conduct its own investigation.
Their inquiries soon reveal that several unexplained disappearances have already occurred in the valley. Alex and Angelo begin to suspect the presence of a serial killer.
Le Bihan, who also directed the episode, said he wanted to tell a story about friendship, respect and the passage of time. “These two men are bound by something that goes beyond words, by a deep respect,” he told Télé Cable Sat.
The actor said the friendship extends beyond the fiction, as he and Astier hold each other in high regard. “It is also what unites Lionnel and me.
He brought a great deal to my character, to the series and to me personally,” he said.
Le Bihan acknowledged that directing affected his acting. “I realize it while watching the film.
In some places, I tell myself: you are still a bit too comfortable,” he said. He also admitted that during filming he sometimes forgot his lines because of the many elements he had to manage at once, including framing, actors, lighting and sets.
