Cyril Hanouna Faces Criminal Complaint Over On-Air Segment Targeting Ouest-France Journalist

Cyril Hanouna criminal complaint over TBT9 segment: Cyril Hanouna Faces Criminal Complaint Over On-Air Segment Targeting Ouest-France Journalist: The Ligue de Défense des Valeurs Républicaines has filed a criminal complaint with the Paris prosecutor over a W9 broadcast that named journalist Maxime Fettweis, requesting an investigation and possible police custody.

Cyril Hanouna criminal complaint over TBT9 segment, Digi Mart USA News (Paris, France): Since mid-October, Cyril Hanouna has been at the center of public debate. Following a segment on his W9 show Tout beau, tout n9uf, the host is now the target of a criminal complaint filed by the Ligue de Défense des Valeurs Républicaines (LDVR), which requests an investigation and, if the law permits, his placement in police custody.

The federation of 13 associations sent a 38-page memorandum to the Paris prosecutor’s office. It accuses Hanouna of having exposed, live on air, the professional background and circle of Maxime Fettweis, a journalist with Ouest-France, before the reporter became the target of hostile messages on social media.

The complaint comes at a sensitive moment for the host, who joined the M6 group after the removal of C8 from free-to-air television.

According to the complaint, the broadcast took place on October 19, 2026, when Tout beau, tout n9uf devoted a large part of its airtime to politics. The following day at 5:30 p.m., Fettweis published an article highlighting this shift.

That evening, Hanouna responded on air, mocked Ouest-France, and named the journalist directly, saying: “I have my teams who have taken an interest in this journalist.”

He then detailed the journalist’s résumé, recalled a past collaboration with a newsletter linked to Quotidien, and cited several articles devoted to himself or to Vincent Bolloré’s group. He went on to imagine a meeting with the reporter and his family, concluding: “You know, there’s never any coincidence, darlings.”

The LDVR cites four criminal charges in its complaint: moral harassment by instigation, complicity in moral harassment, public defamation, and public insult. It seeks recovery of the full recording of the October 20 broadcast and preparation documents, as well as hearings for Hanouna and representatives of Ouest-France.

The association also asks that digital platforms be requested to identify possible authors of cyberharassment and measure the scale of online reactions.

In a direct statement, LDVR federal president Michael Bastien wrote: “One does not use one’s fame to harm others! One does not go after the circle of one’s contemporaries,” denouncing what he called “perfectly humiliating methods.” He also stressed the host’s legal protections: “Cyril Hanouna benefits from the presumption of innocence, and no one can take it away.” For the LDVR, the case raises questions about practices it considers recurring, and it also challenges the editorial choices of W9 and the M6 group.

On October 22, François-Xavier Lefranc of Ouest-France defended his journalist, praising Fettweis’s professionalism and denouncing what he described as unacceptable pressure, while reporting “malicious and insulting messages” aimed at him. The LDVR also places the episode within a history of controversies, recalling Hanouna’s conviction for public insults against deputy Louis Boyard, confirmed on March 19, 2026, with a fine of 2,000 euros.

These elements are presented as general context, while the facts of October 20, 2026 will need to be assessed on their own evidence. Hanouna, the M6 group, and H2O Productions had not yet responded to requests for comment at the time of the report.
