Alpine, USA News (Mexico City): The Mexican Grand Prix concluded in an unexpected manner for Alpine. Although Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly managed to cross the finish line inside the top ten, two penalties applied after the competition altered their positions and left the French team without units in the Constructors’ championship.
After learning of the decision by the sports commissioners, the team used its social media channels to express its displeasure over the outcome of the race held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. “The post-race penalties for both cars mean we leave Mexico City without points,” the team communicated. Additionally, the stable highlighted the work done by its two representatives and lamented that the sanctions overshadowed the performance they had shown throughout Sunday. “A disappointing way to end the weekend after a positive race from both Pierre and Franco,” the team added.
Why Were Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly Penalized?
The Argentine driver had completed a strong performance, crossing the checkered flag in eighth position. However, the commissioners applied a 10-second penalty for failing to sufficiently reduce speed in the presence of a yellow flag. The sanction considerably modified his final classification: Colapinto dropped to 15th place and lost the points he had secured on the track.
Gasly’s situation was even more complicated. The French driver had finished tenth, but received a 30-second penalty for a similar infraction committed in a sector marked with a double yellow flag. As a result, the Alpine driver fell to 17th place and also remained out of the points-scoring zone. Thus, neither of the representatives of the French team could capitalize on the result obtained during the competition.

| 3 | Kimi Antonelli | Mercedes |
| 4 | Charles Leclerc | Ferrari |

The retirements corresponded to Arvid Lindblad, Oliver Bearman, Valtteri Bottas, Lance Stroll, and Fernando Alonso. For Alpine, the result represented a missed opportunity in the fight to improve its position in the Constructors’ championship. Both Colapinto and Gasly had managed to complete a race that allowed them to aspire to score, but the subsequent decisions ultimately left the French team empty-handed.
