Tropical Storm Vance, USA News: Heavy rainfall and severe flooding struck northwestern Mexico, sweeping multiple vehicles into the ocean and prompting the emergency rescue of at least 41 people. According to reports cited from Clarín, one person died as a result of the severe weather system.

The intense downpours originated from the remnants of Tropical Storm Vance, which had dissipated on Thursday. In a span of just 45 minutes, the storm unleashed a heavy volume of water reaching 120 millimeters, catching residents in Guaymas and Los Cabos off guard.

Impact in Los Cabos and Guaymas

The most severe impacts were recorded in Los Cabos, where several automobiles were described on social media as being literally devoured by the sea, while others ended up stranded on the beach. The government of Baja California Sur confirmed a heavy flow of water descending from elevated areas alongside one fatality.

Local media outlets reported that the deceased victim was inside a taxi that was swept away by a rushing current of water and mud in Guaymas. The National Civil Protection Coordination reported that 41 people were rescued from high-risk zones, and 18 vehicles sustained damage due to the moving water currents.

Emergency Response and Evacuations

In Guaymas, the Las Palmas stream carried away at least ten vehicles. Meanwhile, in Los Cabos, a family medicine clinic was evacuated, displacing 356 individuals, including patients and medical staff. Emergency responders deployed at least 60 personnel along with ambulances.

Civil Protection authorities urged the public to avoid crossing streams, fords, and flooded streets either on foot or by vehicle, warning that water currents can escalate rapidly even after rainfall begins to subside.
