FIA investigation of Charles Leclerc and Liam Lawson at the 2026 Brazilian Grand Prix, Digi Mart USA News: Charles Leclerc and Liam Lawson will face FIA stewards following an incident during the Brazilian Grand Prix, according to a report published by PlanetF1.
Following contact between the cars, the stewards confirmed that the incident will be investigated after the race. It was an eventful wet-dry-wet Brazilian Grand Prix around Interlagos.
Lawson at one stage found himself running second in his Racing Bulls, while Leclerc battled his way into the points-paying positions. The pair met in the closing laps of the race as the rain returned.
As they battled, Leclerc, on the inside line into Juncao, rubbed wheels with his Racing Bulls rival as they exited the uphill left-hander. The contact was enough to unsettle Lawson, and the Ferrari driver took the place as they navigated the Senna S at the end of the long front straight.
"Rubbing is racing" was the verdict from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the post-race cooldown room, but the FIA stewards want to take a closer look at the incident.
Ferrari saw its mathematical hopes of winning the Constructors’ Championship come to an end at Interlagos, as Mercedes clinched the crown. The Silver Arrows only needed to outscore Ferrari by three points, which they achieved comfortably as George Russell secured fourth place and Kimi Antonelli fifth, although the Italian is under investigation over a potential unsafe release from Mercedes.
As for Lawson, he finished eighth, between the Ferraris, as he delivered another strong performance at a time when uncertainty continues to surround his Formula 1 future. Lawson, Arvid Lindblad and Nikola Tsolov are battling for the two Racing Bulls seats for the 2027 season.
