Among those arrested are alleged leaders of criminal groups known as “El Gigan,” “Miky Juárez” and “El Pollo.” Security and Citizen Protection Secretary Omar García Harfuch said the actions were carried out on the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum and with the support of Governor Delfina Gómez.

One of the most significant results was the seizure of 178,780 liters of LP gas, along with 52 vehicles, 20 firearms and 111 cell phones. Authorities also detained two municipal police officers from Nezahualcóyotl who were allegedly linked to protecting a criminal structure.

The investigation into the organization known as “Los Gigan,” which is linked to the CJNG, lasted seven months. According to the information released about the operation, authorities carried out 21 raids in the eastern zone of the State of Mexico, resulting in the arrest of 16 people, including the two municipal officers.

Another part of the operation focused on a network dedicated to the illicit marketing of hydrocarbons. Fifteen raids on various properties led to 12 arrests of individuals linked to activities attributed to “El Pollo,” who was allegedly responsible for organizing the illegal extraction, transfer, storage and distribution of LP gas.

Participating agencies included the Security and Citizen Protection Secretariat, the National Defense Secretariat, the Navy, the Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard and the National Intelligence Center, in coordination with state and municipal authorities and with support from Pemex.

García Harfuch said the operations aim to target not only members of criminal organizations but also their economic resources and the possible protection networks that allow them to operate. He stated that no public office or union facade should serve as protection for committing crimes.
