Le Voyageur Maëlle Mietton departure, Digi Mart USA News: The final scene of a recent episode of the French police drama Le Voyageur left viewers stunned. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, France 3 broadcast a new episode titled Le Sentier perdu, in which Commissioner Élise Macena, played by Maëlle Mietton, announced her resignation.
Since the arrival of Bruno Debrandt as Yann Kandinsky, successor to Éric Cantona, the character had found her place across the series’ cases. Described as gentle, determined and often the first to calm tensions, she has become one of the reference points for the show’s loyal fans.
In the episode, Élise follows her instincts, leaves her desk to join Yann Kandinsky in the field, and tries to recover the bodies of victims of the killer Bonal. Confronted with extreme violence, she is shaken, and at the end she says she needs distance and announces her departure from the police station.
Creator and writer Hervé Korian moved to address the speculation. Speaking to Télé-Loisirs, he said the character needs a break after the episode’s events, adding: “Maëlle Mietton does not leave the series.
She is not in every episode and will not be, because the Voyageur is a loner.” According to Korian, the commissioner’s sidelining is a narrative choice, not a career decision by the actress.
Korian said the series’ original plan included only the Voyageur himself and his dog Emy as recurring figures. He explained that Mietton’s performance in the episode La Maison sous le vent, the first with Bruno Debrandt, convinced him to bring the commissioner back as a regular character.
Korian also acknowledged a romantic element in the episode’s famous path, saying: “This path does not exist, but I found it romantic.” He added that three other episodes have already been shot and another is currently in production.
