Météo-France orange rain-flood alert Gard Hérault Corsica November 5 2026, Digi Mart USA News (France): A “pluvio-stormy active episode” is affecting mainland France on Thursday, November 5, 2026, according to the source report. The episode has triggered orange vigilance from Météo-France in four departments of the country.
The orange alert concerns rain-flooding and covers the two Corsican departments, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud, along with two departments in the Occitanie region, Gard and Hérault. Gard and Hérault have already faced this level of alert several times since late summer.
Météo-France revised its bulletin. The bulletin issued late Wednesday, November 4, 2026, mentioned only two orange sectors, the Corsican departments.
The map circulated early Thursday raised the number to four.
Timing varies by area. Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud were already under orange alert when the report was written.
For Gard and Hérault, the orange alert takes effect at 10:00 on November 5, 2026. The orange level in the two Corsican departments remains in force until noon on Friday, November 6, while the alert for Gard and Hérault will be lifted earlier, at midnight.
Météo-France describes a “disturbed situation in the Mediterranean, particularly on the eastern façade of Corsica, with durable rains that could produce heavy accumulations of precipitation.” Forecasters also cite the continental coastal departments, mainly Gard and Hérault, and to a lesser extent the Bouches-du-Rhône and Var. The rain falls on very wet soils, which will facilitate runoff, the agency noted.
Météo-France estimates total accumulations for the episode at 150 to 200 mm widely along the coast, possibly up to 250 mm, and 250 to 350 mm or more locally over the relief in Corsica. Gard and Hérault have already recorded totals of 50 to 70 mm, and additional accumulations of 70 to 100 mm are expected by Thursday evening.
Yellow vigilance is also in effect. Gard and Hérault are under triple vigilance for rain, storms and flooding.
Haute-Corse is under the same three alerts, while Corse-du-Sud has yellow storm vigilance in addition to its orange rain alert. Yellow alerts also cover the Ardèche, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Alpes-Maritimes.
