France November 5 2026 nationwide strike transport disruptions and protests, Digi Mart USA News (France): Unions, students and public-sector workers are mobilizing on Thursday, November 5, 2026, to defend wages and jobs. Processions are planned across France, with disruptions expected in transport, schools and public services.

The French national railway SNCF said on Wednesday evening that rail traffic would be disrupted to heavily disrupted on regional lines, as well as on certain RER and commuter train lines in Île-de-France, because of the interprofessional social movement. Long-distance service on major routes is expected to be preserved, with one in ten TGV high-speed trains cancelled.

In Île-de-France, traffic will be affected on RER lines B, C, D and E, as well as on train lines J, L, H, N, R and U. Traffic is expected to be normal on trams, buses and cable cars, as well as on RER line A and lines K, P and V, according to SNCF Voyageurs Île-de-France and Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM).

A Paris march for wages and youth is planned. The Paris administrative court upheld an alternative route between the Place de la République and the Place de la Nation proposed by the Paris police prefecture.

The court said the alternative was neither inappropriate nor disproportionate, and did not seriously and manifestly unlawfully infringe the fundamental freedoms invoked. The unions had challenged a prefectoral order that partially banned their preferred route in central Paris between Bastille and Concorde.
