French heavy truck registrations decline 3.7% year to date, Digi Mart USA News (France): According to TRM24, the French market for commercial vehicles over 5 tonnes (VI +5 t) continues to trend downward. Through the end of October 2026, registrations stood at 34,786 vehicles, a decline of 3.7% compared with the same period in 2025.

Vehicles over 16 tonnes showed a smaller decline of 1.6%, with 30,929 units registered year to date, including 3,540 in October.

Trucks in the lower-weight category, known as porteurs, recorded 15,159 registrations since January, a decrease of 12.9% over the first ten months of the year. The source describes this category as the market’s main area of weakness.

October saw just 1,629 units registered, down 11.4% year over year.

Road tractors showed greater resilience. With 19,627 cumulative registrations at the end of October, they rose 5% compared with 2025 and now account for more than 56% of VI +5 t registrations so far this year.

October registrations of 2,369 units, however, fell 2.7% year over year. The source notes that this does not yet reverse the category’s annual gain but reflects the broader slowdown in the sector.

Renault Trucks remains the market leader with 10,454 registrations, down 4.7%, and nearly 30% of volume. Volvo holds second place with 4,831 units (-1.6%), while Mercedes-Benz, with 4,639 registrations, rose 12.7% and is closing the gap.

MAN recorded 3,944 registrations, up 16.8%, and is approaching Scania, whose volumes fell 13% to 4,268 units.

DAF declined 5.9% to 3,714 vehicles. Iveco faced the steepest drop among the major brands, with 2,368 registrations, down 26%.

Among smaller manufacturers, Isuzu rose 24.8% to 141 units, while Ford fell 44.4% to 133 vehicles and Fuso declined 24.2%.

In a weakening market, Mercedes-Benz and MAN have gained ground, while Scania and especially Iveco have lost significant share. Renault Trucks still leads the ranking, but positions behind it are shifting.
