Coparmex calls for transparency and investigation of irregularities at Mexico’s INE ahead of 2027, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): The Mexican Employers’ Confederation (Coparmex) warned that confidence in the 2027 elections is at risk unless impartiality is guaranteed at the National Electoral Institute (INE). The warning was issued as the business organization set out its position on the direction of the country’s democratic institutions.

Coparmex and its 71 local member organizations sent letters to lawmakers in the Congress of the Union. The documents demand an open selection process based on professional merit to choose the INE’s new presidency, rather than political distribution of posts or favoritism.

The business sector also asks for an investigation of possible administrative irregularities within the electoral body. It further requests that unilateral decisions be halted in order to restore teamwork among the institute’s councilors.

The organization argues that guaranteeing electoral autonomy is essential to provide certainty for investment, the economy and social stability nationwide. According to Coparmex, citizens must be certain that their vote will be respected at the ballot box.

Representatives of the private sector said the 2027 electoral process will require clear rules and oversight. The call aims to prevent weakening of the institutional mechanisms that sanction electoral violations or protect the transparency of voting.

In its message, the organization concluded that legal certainty is the key to development. Coparmex stated that it will closely monitor the decisions of Congress to ensure the INE operates with transparency and without conflicts of interest.
