Naucalpan road rehabilitation machinery investment, Digi Mart USA News (Naucalpan, Mexico State): So far, the Naucalpan municipal government has invested 28 million pesos in acquiring machinery to rehabilitate the municipality’s streets and roadways, Mayor Isaac Montoya reported. The equipment includes an integral pothole repair unit, a mobile concrete mixer and a paving train, which are currently focused on work in the municipality’s industrial zones.
As part of the Reconstruction Plan for the Eastern Zone, Naucalpan also received a paving train from the federal government. The equipment is intended to recover roads that went decades without comprehensive intervention, including streets in industrial parks and secondary streets, the mayor said.
Montoya said 10 million pesos was invested in the pothole repair unit, 8 million pesos in the concrete mixer and 10 million pesos in the asphalt paver. For next year, the municipal government plans to focus on purchasing the supplies needed to carry out volume-based work and advance into more neighborhoods.
He added that a second pothole repair unit will arrive in Naucalpan in a few days, allowing further progress on repaving and pothole repair. Montoya said the industrial zone is the priority because it has the greatest backlog, and work has just begun in Ahuizotla.
The mayor said the new paving train, acquired with municipal funds, will allow more repaving projects, alongside the equipment received through the Eastern Zone program. Work will proceed in Alce Blanco, Industrial Tlatilco, San Andrés Atoto and other areas, he said, adding that although the industrial zone has a lower population density, it is a route used by many residents for work.
Montoya said that at the start of his administration the commitment was to rehabilitate one million square meters of streets, but the target has since doubled to two million square meters, counting repaving, sidewalk reconstruction and pothole repair, including work by the communities, the Annual Works Plan (POA), OAPAS and the Public Services Directorate. An automatic pothole repair unit is working in the Boulevares subdivision, where every street will be repaired.
The mayor said that when his administration began, 70% of the municipality’s streets were in deteriorated condition. He said 30% has been addressed and 40% remains, adding, “vamos a entrarle,” meaning the government will take it on.
Another rehabilitation project covers Avenida Ingenieros Militares, from Cuatro Caminos to near the Campo Militar at the limits with the Miguel Hidalgo borough. In coordination with the Mexico State Roads Board (JCEM), work was carried out on Avenida Luis Donaldo Colosio, and the road to Ixtlahuaca is being rehabilitated.
Along the border with the Azcapotzalco borough, Avenida de las Armas and Calzada de la Naranja are currently being worked on, although that is a mitigation project handled by the company building the Macrolibramiento.
