IMSS Medical Equipment Distribution to Mexican Hospitals, Digi Mart USA News (Mexico): The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has begun distributing 47 specialized medical devices to 39 hospitals in 19 states across Mexico. The distribution is part of a 12-action, 120-day program aimed at improving care for insured persons and working conditions for medical personnel.
President Claudia Sheinbaum led the launch of the distribution on Friday, October 30, through a link from the National Palace with the IMSS Central Warehouse in Vallejo, Mexico City. Speaking at her morning press conference, Sheinbaum said the first equipment was arriving at hospitals as part of the program presented earlier that week.
IMSS Director General Zoé Robledo said the first shipment includes 20 3D-visualization ultrasound machines, 17 electrocardiographs, and 10 multiparameter vital-signs monitors for intensive care units. The institution plans to incorporate a total of 2,917 medical devices through this strategy to strengthen hospital care capacity.
Robledo said the equipment was selected based on needs identified by doctors, nurses and technical staff through an active listening process. Directors of the 39 receiving hospitals also took part in the presentation.
Daniel Carmona González, director of General Hospital of Zone No. 71 in Veracruz Norte, said the devices will allow earlier and more precise diagnoses for families in Veracruz. Itzel Villagrán Maldonado, director of General Subzone Hospital No. 17 with Family Medicine in Anáhuac, Chihuahua, said the new devices will help medical staff identify emergency situations.
The delivery of these first 47 devices marks the start of the distribution planned under the IMSS strengthening program.
