Vladimir Putin, USA News: Russia has been told by the United States to brace for a potential terror attack in Moscow. The country’s Federal Security Service (FSB) stated that it had received information from the US through established partner channels regarding preparations for a terrorist attack in its capital, adding that it was taking appropriate measures to counter the threat.
Separately, the US Embassy in Moscow announced that it was aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event scheduled for Saturday at Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve. The embassy added that the US Government was actively working alongside Russian authorities to address the situation.
This intelligence tip-off follows a previous US warning issued to Moscow in 2024 prior to the March 22 Crocus City Hall attack, which resulted in 145 fatalities and hundreds of injuries. At that time, Russian spy chief Sergei Naryshkin remarked that the provided information was too general to fully identify the perpetrators.
The latest security alert coincides with widespread travel disruptions across Moscow driven by unconventional warfare methods from Ukraine. Kyiv deployed kamikaze drones launched from high-altitude weather balloons targeting the capital’s major aviation hubs, prompting the grounding of nearly 1,000 flights nationwide.
Meanwhile, international diplomatic tensions continue to rise. British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband confronted his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, at a G20 summit, stating that Russia remains the aggressor in the ongoing conflict. This exchange occurred shortly after a reported railway station bombing in Dnipro, Ukraine, which left 15 people dead.
