Metro CDMX, USA News (Mexico City): The Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro of Mexico City will advance the start of operations on five lines to facilitate travel for fans attending the 2026 Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. According to an informational card released by the organization, this Sunday, November 1, lines 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9 will begin offering service starting at 5:00 hours, aiming to expand mobility options for those heading to the racing venue and prevent major travel complications during the day.

This measure is part of special actions implemented by the capital’s government due to the concentration of visitors generated by one of the most important sporting events on the international motorsport calendar. In addition to the schedule adjustment, the Metro will deploy a special security device on Line 9, which connects with the stations closest to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The operation will remain in effect from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 1.

Deployment of 550 Security Elements on Line 9

To guarantee user safety and speed up travel toward the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the STC Metro is deploying a special operation on Line 9 with the participation of 510 elements from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) and 40 internal transit guards. The deployment began on Friday, October 30, and will stay active through Sunday, November 1, during the three days of activities for the Mexico Grand Prix. Special attention will be paid to the Velódromo, Ciudad Deportiva, and Puebla stations due to their proximity to the motorsport competition venue.

The strategy responds to instructions from Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina to reinforce surveillance and offer safe conditions for the thousands of fans utilizing public transit to reach the event. Meanwhile, Metro General Director Adrián Rubalcava Suárez will supervise service operations and the surveillance deployment throughout the weekend.

Formula 1 Automobile Displayed at Ciudad Deportiva Station

As part of the atmosphere generated by the 2026 Mexico Grand Prix, the Metro also installed a single-seater exhibition car at the Ciudad Deportiva station on Line 9. The exhibition allows motorsport fans and public transit users to view a vehicle inspired by top-category cars up close without needing to enter the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. The car features a black bodywork, orange details, and graphic elements alluding to the 12 lines of the capital’s Metro, serving as an attraction for visitors to take photographs during the Grand Prix weekend.

This activity joins other events organized across the capital to bring Formula 1 closer to fans, including the recent Show Run by driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez on Paseo de la Reforma. Authorities reminded passengers to respect safety measures within facilities, such as avoiding alcoholic beverages, holding belongings securely, and staying back from platform edges.
