Social Security payments, USA News: Some Social Security beneficiaries will receive their financial disbursements a day early in November because of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, according to the Social Security Administration.

Social Security benefits, which are disbursed primarily to retired or older individuals, typically arrive on Wednesdays. Recipients whose birthdays fall between the first and 10th days of the month are scheduled to receive payments on the second Wednesday of the month. For November, that date is normally November 11, but because Wednesday, November 11, is Veterans Day, those payments will instead go out a day earlier on Tuesday, November 10.

For other beneficiaries, individuals born between the 11th and 20th of the month receive their funds on the third Wednesday, which falls on November 18. Those born after the 20th of the month are paid on the fourth Wednesday of the month, falling on November 25. Additionally, recipients who began receiving benefits before May 1997 are scheduled to be paid on November 3.

The Social Security Administration notes that the check received in October represents retirement benefits for September, while October benefits are covered by the following month’s check. The complete November schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 10: Birth dates between the 1st and 10th of the month.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 18: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th of the month.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 25: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st of the month.

Meanwhile, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), also administered by the SSA, provides benefits to individuals with limited income or resources, those aged 65 or older, and those who are blind or possess a qualifying disability. SSI recipients typically receive payments on the first business day of the month. Because November 1 is a Sunday, November payments will be issued on Friday, October 30.
