Claudia Sheinbaum, USA News (Ciudad de México): President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that Mexico’s economic activity registered an estimated annual growth of 3.7 percent during September 2026, compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the Timely Indicator of Economic Activity (IOAE) from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
During her morning press conference, the chief executive described the result as positive and noted that it reflects expectations for greater economic growth throughout the second half of the year.
"The 3.7 percent figure is very good, very, very good, and it speaks to what we have been discussing in this conference, that in the second half of 2026 we were going to see greater economic growth," she stated.
Sheinbaum emphasized that, beyond economic expansion, her administration seeks to ensure that wealth is distributed and translates into well-remunerated jobs and the development of various regions across the country.
"What matters to us is not only growth, but that wealth is distributed, good employment, well-remunerated, and the development of the different areas of our country," she specified.
The president also attributed this economic performance to the participation of both public and private investment. According to the INEGI indicator, between August and September 2026, economic activity presented an estimated monthly increase of 0.1 percent.
